Our Company

On Our Own, Inc. is a non-profit agency providing skill training and behavioral support to individuals, schools, families and other agencies serving people with developmental, emotional, learning and behavioral challenges.

We are certified as a non-public agency by the California Department of Education to provide counseling and educational services, and vendored as a behavioral services provider through the California Department of Developmental Services. On Our Own, Inc. is an active member of the California Association of Behavior Analysis (Cal-ABA) the Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps (TASH), and the Autism Society of America.

Our Employees

Behavior Specialists

Behavior Specialists are professionals with a Master's degree or higher and at least two years of experience  in conducting behavior assessments and designing positive behavior support plans. Behavior Specialists are responsible for the development and direct implementation of behavior management programs for individuals referred to our agency.

Temporary Support Assistants

Temporary Support Assistants are qualified individuals with a High School and/or Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience in the social services. Their role is to implement the behavioral support plan designed by a Behavior Specialist. They assist individuals in managing their own behavior while learning new and useful skills that increase their independence.

Respite Providers

Respite Providers facilitate breaks for caregivers by providing skilled support and care for individuals of all ages.

 

Dental Desensitization Specialists

Desensitization Specialists are certified professionals who assist developmentally disabled individuals comply with the dentist or dental assistants as they provide typical preventive dental care such as cleanings, fillings or x-rays.

 

Translators

Translators are qualified bilingual individuals who assist in translating between the family, client and behavior specialist.  A translator also assists in translating reports generated by the behavior specialist.

Independent Living Worker

One-To-One training and support focusing on health, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and everyday tasks for living independently.
